Second Grade: February 05 - 09, 2024

Hello, Second Grade Families,

Last week, we heard a story about a wise monk named Jerome. The story begins with Jerome meeting a big, scary lion which he befriended even though all the other monks feared the lion. Jerome did not let his fear control his actions and ended up with a special friend in the lion.  During the week, the class also worked steadily on practicing writing new cursive letters.  As the students practiced their cursive penmanship, we imagined each letter having its own connection and being similar to a “really fancy person” with its own flow and structure.

Next week, we will hear stories like Hercules and the Wagoner. Along with our stories, the class will write composition sentences to help us better comprehend the story and to assist in our reading and spelling.  Students will continue to work on our cursive alphabet, and we will soon start connecting the letters we have learned in order to form complete words in cursive.

The students have worked hard to learn all the new material, especially their cursive letters.  They have also enjoyed the nicer weather because it has given them opportunities to explore campus once again and have some adventures.  Thank you to everyone for participating in the conferences.  It is always great to connect and share about the year in person.
