Kindergarten Chickadees: March 25 - 29, 2024

Osiyo, Chickadee Families,

Seeing so many new and familiar faces at our Grandfriends Day before the break was wonderful. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed Spring Break and an extra special day for the eclipse.

Before the break, students transplanted their kale sprouts into planters. The children also heard a story about Ostara, the Germanic goddess of spring, and the magic bunny. After finding a bird frozen in the forest, a girl asks Ostara to bring it back to life. With the magic of Spring, Ostara can save the animal by turning it into a bunny. The magic bunny can not stay on Earth and finds a new home on the moon. Each year, when Ostara brings Spring to the forest, the bunny accompanies her. This allows the bunny to check on the girl and ensure she is well. The magic bird-turned-bunny leaves a special gift of rainbow-colored eggs each spring. As a special treat, the students each received a few colorful, felted eggs hidden in their wheat grass. The children grew the grass from seeds and took them home before break.

The coming weeks will be filled with adventure and activities such as planting, harvesting, and building. The students will create and participate in obstacle courses, use their senses on nature walks, and learn new playground games. The children will continue blending colors on painting days and building their fine motor and creative skills on drawing days. They will also use the rest of the egg cartons for a special art project!
