Kindergarten Honeybees: March 25 - 29, 2024

Greetings, Honeybee Families,

It was a pleasure to meet the children’s extended family and close family friends at our Grandfriends Day. The children worked hard to prepare their classroom and make it beautiful for our special guests. They even raked pathways around our entire space!

We shared a spring story about a mother bird building her nest. She worked hard, day after day, collecting just the right materials to make her nest cozy. She built her home next to a human family home who were so delighted to watch her gather things from around their house. She even used tuffets of hair from the father’s haircut- which induced many giggles. Finally, the day arrived; the children were playing in the garden when suddenly they could hear a “tweet tweet!”

For our craft, the children built their own bird's nest. They searched for the perfect stick to hold their nest. They then wet-felted little eggs; those that couldn’t form into balls were perfect to represent “hatched eggs.” The students also collected moss and little leaves from the forest to decorate their nests made out of wool roving. They put care and thought into these beautiful symbols of springtime.
