Kindergarten: November 11 - 15

Greetings Forestgarten Famlies!

The students really enjoyed the lantern walk on Monday! They sang the song and held their

lanterns delicately while walking through the dimly lit sanctuary. The light in their lanterns

represents the light that each one of them brings into the world.

Make way mud – the children have now found ice in the forest! The leaves are crunching

beneath their feet as they run through the woods, searching every nook and cranny for

glistening pieces to collect in buckets. Some of the students were gleefully discussing the

arrival of Jack Frost!

We celebrated Chloe and Daniel’s birthdays this week, as they both made their fifth trip around

the sun. Thank you to both of their families for sharing sweet memories and treats!

We sing a special song to call students for story time. Find the lyrics below and ask your child to

sing the tune for you –

Mother of the fairy tale

Come and take our hand

On your boat we shall set sail

To the fairy land…

Our story this week was called “The Magpie and the Milk.” An old woman left a pail of fresh

milk on her porch, waiting for the cream to rise to the top as she prepared a steaming cup of

coffee. She heard a clatter and when she looked outside, she saw that a magpie had knocked

over the fresh milk. She was very upset and scooped up the magpie and popped off his tail.

The magpie begged to have his tail back. To this, she replied “Of course, as soon as you bring

me fresh milk for my coffee.” Simple enough. So the magpie asked the cow for some milk.

“Certainly,” said the cow, “as soon as you bring me some fresh grass to eat.” And so begins the

journey of the magpie. Does he get his tail back? What else must he do along the way?
