Greetings Forestgarten Families!
We enjoyed a beautiful week, observing the glorious autumn colors against magical sun rays,
catching falling leaves and feeling thankful.
We celebrated Huck and Anneliese’s birthdays, as they both made their sixth trip around the
sun. Thank you to both families for sharing fun memories and sweet treats.
Our story this week was another original tale written by Ki Fatima. The trees of the forest,
Maple, Hickory, and Oak, were admiring their beautiful coats of leaves as each turned different
colors in the autumn season. All three trees questioned Cedar, asking why her leaves remained
green and did not change to different and beautiful hues like their own. Autumn passed and all
of the trees, except Cedar, lost their leaves and started to feel cold. Cedar spread her limbs as
far as they would go covering the bare trees all winter long, giving them warmth and shelter.
Once spring came, Maple, Hickory, and Oak began sprouting new leaves of green, and they
thanked sweet Cedar for protecting them, vowing never to compare their coats to one another,
ever again.
The children enjoyed a painting session at Privet Pocket, our outdoor classroom nook,
spreading fall colors across the white paper, blending yellow and red to make orange. In
Botany, the students collected leaves from the forest floor and worked hard to identify them
with Ki Holly. We also finger knitted and hammered nails into stumps. We spent a few
afternoons with our animal friends in the garden, feeding them celery and carrots and patting
the tops of their heads.
Once Friday arrived, the children were so very excited to perform the “Thankful” song for their
grown-ups. Thank you for joining us for a delightful picnic in the sun on the playground. We
enjoyed spending time with all of you. We hope that the following week is one filled with a
similar spirit of togetherness and thankfulness. We look forward to seeing everyone after the
break!
With gratitude,
