Greetings dear Beaver Families,
Although last week was mostly comprised of half days, there was no shortage of fun and excitement. Monday morning, some parents from our class joined us to help build our fairy scarecrow and the children named her “Flower.” Every morning we greet her and add something from the forest into her autumn harvest basket. This past week, we also celebrated two of our October birthdays, Jade and Seyla- it’s always a joy to watch the children light up as they hear their birthday story. In Spanish class, the children learned a song about going to school and then they were able to see it played out; Ki Maria’s yellow school bus was a big hit!
The children listened to a story called, “The Pumpkin child”, about a woman who wished so much to have a child that she didn’t even mind if it looked like a pumpkin. Lo and behold, one day she went to pick up the child and indeed the child was turned into a pumpkin. The mother loved her all the same. The story follows the pumpkin child through her day, as she rolls to school and around town. This story invites a lot of giggles. It ends in a very sweet way, when, to everyone’s surprise, the pumpkin child finally comes out of her pumpkin shell.
