Dear Fourth Grade Families,
We had a wonderful week back together following our fall break. The students were rested and ready for work and fun. We are excited to welcome two new students in our class! Zion is back with us and Violet has joined our class for the first time. It is wonderful to add new (and old) friends and their families to our community. Welcome!
Last week, we continued with our Norse Myth stories and our focus on the parts of speech. We spent time identifying and learning more about nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and articles as we created a variety of sentences. We learned the main conjunctions (and, or, but) and how and why we use these words in a sentence and began to notice and name helping verbs. We also continued writing summaries about the stories told in class.
This week, we are entering into a math block. We will begin by reviewing and practicing long multiplication and traditional multiplication as well as continuing to work on the memorization of our multiplication tables. Additional home practice has a strong, positive effect on mastery and success in school.
Reminders:
Ukuleles should come to school every Monday. We will keep them at school and the students will bring them home every Wednesday so they can practice
Spelling homework resumed this past week
Please bring boots for Environmental Education Class.
Our class will be building an Odin scarecrow this year. More details will follow this week for needed supplies and a date to meet on campus and assemble him.
Fall Conferences are fast approaching. Please see the link in the main section of the Monday Messenger to sign up!
With gratitude,
