Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Thank you all for your understanding and patience as we pivoted to a virtual day Monday and then (happily) were back together in person for the remainder of the week.
This past week, we enjoyed hearing more Norse Myths as we focused on how to write a paragraph. We learned about topic sentences, the body of a paragraph, and the closing. We put these concepts into practice as we created summaries around the Norse Myths and paragraphs that focus on the students and their home lives.
On Thursday, we celebrated the Day of Courage with a story of St. George overcoming the dragon and painted dragon shields. The students enjoyed this activity and were happy to bring their shields home on Friday.
When we return, we will continue with our Norse Myths language block. Along with understanding and practicing how to write a paragraph, we will focus more on how to write a proper sentence while also making it more interesting for the reader.
As you return to school, the weather is likely to cool down. Please send your child with:
Indoor, rubber-soled slippers/shoes (to keep at school)
A lap blanket (to keep at school)
Layer clothing daily for comfort
Rain gear
Bug spray
2 water bottles
There is not a spelling list over fall break week. Have a lovely week off!
With gratitude,
Melissa
