Kindergarten Beavers: October 4 - 8

Greetings Beaver families!

The children returned from fall break ready to get straight to work! They tidied up the forest by raking up leaves and pine straw and gathering them in a pile while some helped plant new fall plants in our hanging basket. We swept our platform, put up fall decorations and observed the color changes on the leaves. There was also some new autumn-colored yarn added to our yarn basket which the children enjoyed using to finger knit and finger chain necklaces and bracelets for themselves and family members.

The children heard a sweet story called, “The Enormous Turnip,” the story is about a farmer who eagerly plants a field of turnips only to find only one has come up from the ground. At first he feels discouraged but determines that he would harvest it and enjoy it nonetheless. But try with all his might to pull it from the ground, it wouldn’t budge! He calls his wife, cat, cow, and horse for help and they all pulled together until finally, it popped out from the earth. The turnip was so enormous they could munch on it all season long.
