Kindergarten Turtles: November 8 - 12

Greetings Turtle Families!

Our forest classroom was lively with activity throughout this sun-filled, WARM autumn week! The climbing dome was a popular spot, with many students learning how to confidently climb to the top and back down to the bottom.  Bottles of water from the creek were used for endless mud kitchen play.  Every pot and bucket was filled, stirred, and prepared into a delicious muddy treat.  On Friday, the mud play was relocated to the edge of basecamp where students used droppers to mix murky potions into our teeny tiny dollhouse bowls.  We opened a dry okra plant to examine the seeds inside and two students planted them into some soil to see what happens.  We will water the seeds to see whether or not they are able to sprout in colder temperatures.  Next week, we will plant some cold hardy veggies and Georgia native flowers into the pots that we have filled with a mixture of clay and topsoil.

Thank you so much for celebrating the Lantern Walk Festival with us.  It was a beautiful sight and a magical experience for all.  Walking through the forest by candlelight allows the children to view the familiar landscape in a completely different and profound way.  I hope they will treasure their little lanterns for years to come!

Thank you also for sponsoring the Work Day on Saturday.  Many important tasks were accomplished and it was fun to work side by side with one another.  These days are invaluable to our school community and we truly appreciate the gift of your time and efforts!
