Greetings Dear Beaver Families,
Last week we really began to feel the chilly autumn weather. The children are adjusting to maneuvering around the forest in their layers, but are enjoying their work and play no less. We made beautiful lanterns for our lantern walk; the students used paint brushes to cover their jars in glue and carefully pasted on pieces of colored tissue paper. We also made autumn mobiles using sticks we found in our forest. The children picked out three autumn shapes for their piece and tied them on the stick. We also hung one in our classroom for decoration.
On Friday, the children saw a puppet play based on the story we shared over the course of the week. The story is about a farmer who worked so hard to take care of her corn field. However, after no rainfall, the stalks of corn began to dry and shrivel up. One day as the farmer looked up at the sky wishing for a rain shower, two little raindrops looked down at the farmer and one felt inclined to help her. “What can you do, you are only a little raindrop, you can’t even wet one hill”, said one raindrop to the other. But ultimately, that one raindrop who decided to do everything that it could, made all the difference.
Reminders:
Please pack gloves, head warmer/hat, and a warm coat. A light jacket is not enough. Children need to be dressed in layers.
Disposable hand warmers are highly recommended (there are battery-powered ones too). Some mornings even gloves are not enough and these hand warmers really help keep the children warm. We only have a limited supply we use in emergency cases.
During our lantern walk, please refrain from bringing any additional lighting (tealight candles will be provided) and dress warmly.
Coats can be donated all week during carpool as well as brought to the Lantern Walk evening.
Kindly,
Ki Fatima
