Greetings Turtle Families!
The children are continuing to forge and strengthen friendships as they explore our forest classroom. We played in the creek on Wednesday, which was a blast! We gathered mud kitchen toys and made the short trek down the forest trail. The children built sand castles, watched tiny fish swimming, and collected and poured water for many uses. When we were done, everyone diligently cleaned and washed our mud kitchen toys and we headed back to Basecamp, quite reluctantly, as we would have liked to stay all day!
This week’s story was a Native American tale called “How the Rainbow was Made.” It is a sweet story about a man named Nanabohzo and two little bluebirds. As Nanabohzo paints, the little birds play silly games, swooping down and grazing their wings in the vibrant paint colors. He shoos them away and the birds fly through the mist of the waterfall, creating the first ever rainbow. The Turtles were able to take a small rainbow home with them on Monday, which we created together with wooden rings and colorful ribbon and yarn.
Included below is our snack blessing that the students are really getting the hang of! Perhaps your child can show you the accompanying motions.
