Dear Third-Grade Families,
After two days of remote learning, the students were happy to be back at school for the beginning of fall on Wednesday of this week. The students had a good workout outside, doing gardening and animal care chores with Ki Rachel at the farm and going to Games and Movement with Ki Shannon. In language arts, we finished our first block of Hebrew legends. For the Day of Courage, we listened to the story of St. George taming the Dragon. Every day in cursive, the students practiced a different letter and connected letters to words in whole sentences. The students all have worked hard on remembering their part of the Day of Courage verse which we recited together in our morning circle on Friday. The class also practiced simple multiplication facts with dice and a multiplication grid.
On Friday, the students each decorated a shield with their crest for the Day of Courage. Then, they found swords (a.k.a sticks) in the forest and fought against the Dragon. To test their bravery, the students took turns running and jumping through a moving jump rope.
Please remember:
Dress in layers for cool mornings and warm afternoons.
Send rainwear and rainboots to school.
Find a book that you love reading, practice reading a passage in this book aloud, and bring it to school for show-and-tell after the break.
Enjoy the fall break!
I am looking forward to meeting you again after the break to enjoy the beautiful fall weather at the Garden School.
Best,
Ki Gaby
