Kindergarten Turtles: September 20 - 24

Greetings Turtle Families!

It is hard to believe that we are headed into Fall Break already! The Turtles fully explored our forest play area this week, venturing into the less visited tree covered terrain.  They picked debris and weeds out of a large mound of dirt, working together to uncover the muddy treasure beneath! One student pushed a wheelbarrow over to the mound of dirt while others brought shovels as they engaged in purposeful, practical work. Earthworms were dug out of the ground, spider webs were studied on the climbing dome, and games of hide and seek and tag were played. We even saw a deer prancing through the forest.  We walked quietly toward her and had a perfect view of the doe jumping through the woods! It was magical :)

On Monday, the children were able to use sewing needles for the first time.  We used large, blunt needles with pieces of fabric, felt and beads to create the necklaces that they proudly brought home.  Wednesday allowed us to truly test our new platforms as the rain fell heavily. We took refuge at Basecamp, finger knitting, building with blocks, playing with peg dolls, and setting up a fairy village.  We closed out the week by celebrating Maeve’s fourth birthday. Her mom shared fun memories from each year of Maeve’s life and a wish for the year ahead.  Friends also shared their wishes for Maeve and we sang our Waldorf birthday song to her.  Happy Birthday, Maeve!

Reminders:

  • Have a fun-filled, adventurous, restful and relaxing fall break!

Kindly,

Ki Amy
