Greetings Beaver families!
We got off to a great start of the school year and I’m delighted to see how much the children are enjoying themselves and each other's company. It’s been wonderful to see all the children play together so harmoniously and form new friendships. I smiled as I heard one child showing another how to do a certain trick on the climbing dome. When his friend expressed that he was scared, he reassured him, “You can do this! Be brave!” This first week was mainly focused around getting to know one another, our area in the forest, and establishing a strong rhythm that carries us through our day. Despite all the newness, everything seemed to fall into place naturally and the days breezed by.
The children had a lot of fun chasing one another around their forest space and would pause every now and then to give themselves water breaks. We’re learning about the creatures that we share our space with as well- they discovered a very large worm which one of the children described as “so cute”. We spotted a cardinal and woodpecker near our base camp, and during rest time, a chickadee stopped by for a snack at our bird feeder. Ki Shannon helped us set up a hammock and the children had a lot of fun swinging together on it. Next week we will introduce Spanish, Painting, and Creek so there will be more excitement to follow.
