Dear Third and Fourth-grade families,
This past week, our students worked on making their calendars for 2023. For each month, they have to remember the number of days and determine which weekday the month begins. Once the students have finished their basic calendar pages, they will decorate and assemble them. The students also practiced math facts with all four operations with games and worksheets. We continued with the Hebrew creation stories. Adam and Eve have left the Garden of Eden, and the first humans must take care of themselves.
In Handwork, all students built weaving looms. They hammered nails on wooden frames and warped yarn around the nails. In Spanish, each student received a notebook or main lesson book to record what they learned in writing and with drawings. Mr. Matan gave our third-graders tasks in the garden, and the fourth-graders began building a rabbit hutch with him. Ki Ben took our class on a magical musical adventure with the students as his apprentices. On Friday, we welcomed our new student Quentin to the third-grade class. Together, we had a lot of fun at the creek to end the week. Happy Birthday to Vlad who turned 9 this past weekend!
The class will continue working on our calendars this week and also explore time as we continue with the Hebrew creation stories. The students are also learning to write the days of the week and the months of the year. From now on, they will record spelling words and vocabulary in a notebook for reference.
Please join us on Saturday for Workday. Your family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc., are welcome! Our class will be holding this event.
We are excited to announce that the class will soon be playing the ukulele with Ki Ben. You will receive a separate email with instructions for buying a ukulele for your child.
Pack a snack, a lunch, two water bottles, extra clothes, and close-toed water shoes each day. Bring rain boots daily for farm work, environmental education, and wet weather.
Apply sunscreen and bug spray.
Warm regards,
Gaby Farrokhi
