Hello First Grade Families.
The class had a fun week, even with the shorter days. The students worked hard, and we added extra work to our week because we are now working on a play. The play is called “The White Snake” and we look forward to eventually sharing it with the school. All the students looked back through some of the artwork they had done this year before conferences. It was fun to look back over some of the older drawings. We also did an activity where we got into groups and wrote down as many words as possible. Once we were done with that, each group took turns writing a word from their board onto the chalkboard and we would see who could decode and read the word. After the word was identified, we would sound out the word together and review the correct spelling rules.
It was great to touch base with all the parents and it is hard to believe how fast the end of this year is approaching. We have accomplished a lot and the students were excited for their parents to take home a sample of the work that has been done this year. Enjoy the break; it will be great to be back in a week.
This week is Winter Break and hopefully a restful, fun time for everyone. We will look forward to being back together on Tuesday, February 28th.
