Kindergarten River Otters: February 27- March 3, 2023

Osiyo, River Otter families.

Welcome back from mid-winter break!  We were so happy to see everyone back this week, and hope you had a fun, restful break.  This week we took advantage of the warm and dry days and visited the farm on both Tuesday and Wednesday. We found eggs there on both days and enjoyed playing with the chickens, goats, and donkeys. The children also climbed on the big rock, played in the dry, rocky culvert, and looked into the garden where seeds planted by the third grade class will soon be growing.

We are introducing some social-emotional games into our games day, and throughout the week when we have some extra time. This week, we played a game of guessing what others were feeling by the faces and gestures they made. We then talked about and acted out different ways to express each of these emotions appropriately and safely. We learned some different breathing techniques, as all students agreed breathing was a good way to handle a variety of feelings.

We would like to extend a thank you to the Atkinson family and the Queen family for donating gently used, Waldorf-friendly materials for our classroom. The students are enjoying wooden puzzles, wood lacing cards, games, tiny cups, and a variety of new items and activities.
