Hello First Grade Families,
Last week we continued in our language block. We have been picking up the pace with reading and writing while working on our play. Integrating additional lines from our play into our main lessons, allowed us to be exposed to more challenging words. This exercise also helped us to become more invested in our play and to view our play in a different way. Each of the students has worked hard and the payoff is noticeable. Practicing reading at home is a great way to reinforce what is learned during the day.
The surprisingly cool weather has been nice and we have enjoyed our time outside. For fun, we visited our farm to see our goats, chickens, and donkeys. The students were fortunate enough to find a few eggs to gather. The class loved doing this and they can look forward to their Third Grade year when they visit the farm daily and are in charge of the care of the animals and gardens.
The students continued not only to have fun but also to work hard to prepare for their first performance. This week they will finally get to present our play and it will be great to share the end result of all our hard work. We look forward to sharing it with you all tonight.
Reminders:
Now that the weather is (finally!) warming, please equip your child with sun hats, insect repellent, 2 filled water bottles, and water shoes. Creekcess will begin soon, and students may only go in the water if they have hard-soled, closed-toed shoes for the creek.
