Hello First Grade Families:
Thank you to all who came out for our annual school auction. The night was a fun time to come together as a community. Thank you to all the families who helped with our class project, donated items to the auction, and also those who made bids. We are so grateful for your generosity and time.
Last week the students expanded their reading and writing by creating their own sentences to write. We also practiced sight words. Part of our practice included using sight word cards to reinforce previously learned words while introducing new words. The students also each had an opportunity to share their book of the day. The class enjoyed having a chance to give their classmates a glimpse into what they like to read. Additionally, we kept the week busy by continuing to work on our play.
Next week we will continue to focus on our play. As we practice our lines, we will then add some of those lines to our workbook for additional reading and writing. We will also add more sight words to our stack of sight word cards. Reading new stories will also be a significant part of our week.
We are making good progress with our play and we will be excited to share it with the parents on the evening of May 9th. We are also making great progress with increasing the number of sight words each student has mastered. It would be helpful if you would let your student show off new sight words they have learned while at home.
