Kindergarten: March 2 - 6

Greetings Forestgarten Families!

Puddles and puddles and puddles, oh my! We spent the past week enjoying as much of the rain as we (safely!) could. The students embraced the ubiquitous water, creating a waterfall structure that was quite impressive. By Thursday, the puddles turned into mini pools and we were able to witness pure childhood bliss as the children laughed and splashed, and splashed some more! During our classroom time the students finger chained, painted, built impressive block structures and tents with silks, and performed “shows” composed of original music and percussion beats.

Our story this week was about a raincloud and a rain drop. A tiny raincloud formed in the sky, traveling and becoming larger and larger as it looked for the perfect place to rest and rain. Finally, the raincloud saw a dry garden far below, quite in need of nourishing raindrops. The raindrops fell excitedly, happily watering the little garden who was very thankful in return. The little cloud was about to move on when it felt a little tickle. There was one rain drop left that was afraid to let go. The cloud comforted the rain drop, telling her that she could stay in the sky; however, if she went she could meet the wonderful garden below. She thought about this, and although she was afraid she gave the cloud one last hug and she let go. She fell through the sky, all the way down to the ground and sunk into the rich soil. Once there, she encountered something special. It was a tiny seed that was not able to sprout, for the ground was too dry. The rain drop hugged the seed and it woke from its sleep, rising and rising until it sprung from the ground. Weeks later it bloomed for all to see, a little poppy flower, as red as can be!

We celebrated sweet Shepherd’s birthday this week, as he took his fifth trip around the sun. We heard fun memories of Shepherd and enjoyed yummy ice pops.

We were so proud of our students at the First Friday assembly. They performed our Spring songs so joyfully! As a reminder, our Tuesday/Thursday students are more than welcome to attend the assemblies and join us on stage. The words to our “Bag of Seeds” song can be found below.

My friend gave me a bag of seeds

I asked “What do I do with these?”

He told me to plant them deep inside the earth

And let them sleep

And in the spring you’ll be surprised

By all the flowers before your eyes

But first must come some wind and rain

And a little sun, day after day

I saw the plants and watched them grow

Some bloomed fast and some bloomed slow

Some bloomed high and some bloomed low

But in the end they all did grow

Some were yellow and some were pink

Some were red and some were green

Who would have thought that there would be

The colors of the rainbow inside those seeds?

Kindly,
